Theme: Cabernet and Merlot based wines from Bordeaux
We return to Bordeaux for a last tasting before Christmas.
Since Merlot is generally thought to produce wines which are delicious and approachable when still young many Bordeaux vineyards have emphasised Merlot in their blends at the expense of Cabernet Sauvignon and other traditional varieties.
This tasting shows 6 favourite reds comparing three Merlot based reds with three Cabernet based wines of similar caliber.
We have introduced a couple of delicious Bordeaux whites both to balance the tasting and for their sheer quality.
