When we were first looking at wedding venues I wasn’t sure about a hotel wedding, but Sally led us out to the garden and I realised that I couldn’t get married anywhere else.
Ok, that’s the topline, now for the review;
Location: Harts is in central Nottingham, near the castle and the Park, it sits atop a small hill. The local area is very urban but you walk into Harts and you could be in the countryside, it’s so peaceful!
Decor: One thing you absolutely cannot fault Harts for is their decor; elegant, modern but classic. Matisse prints on the wall, the huge circle window in the bar, the effortless chic of the room decor. Fabulous.
The room: I stayed in a suite the night before and a garden room the night of the wedding.
The suite: was incredible! You walk into a living room area with views over nottingham, to your right there is a bathroom, to your left a seperate bedroom with another bathroom. I was worried initially about how we would fit myself and 6 bridesmaids plus hair and make up in the room but it was perfect!
The bed was comfy, the bathrooms clean and adequately stocked.
We set up the make up in the living room next to the huge window- great natural light! And we used the dressing table in the bedroom for hair.
Probably one of my favourite memories of the day was getting ready with my girls!
In terms of space and helpfulness- one of the maids ordered an ironing board to iron her dress and we still had plenty of room!
The garden room- I loved it. The bed was comfy. The room whilst smaller was ample, being able to walk into the garden felt like being on holiday!! The bathroom was modern with a good shower.
Side note: one of my friends, another guest, commented on how comfy the beds are! They are!
The bar / restaurant: I don’t know if this needs a seperate review but for now I will just say – incredible! We knew the food would be good at Harts having visited several times but this was amazing. Absolutely gorgeous, both in the food and the decor.
The staff: where do I start?
Abigayle: the hotel receptionist who kept me up to date on room bookings, she was incredibly helpful and professional.
The bar / waiting staff in the garden: one of my niggles about weddings is how long canapes take to come out, not so at Harts. The service was immaculate. Prompt, discreet, efficient. One of the managers, and I apologise that I forget his name, came over to check I was happy with everything- so kind.
The reception drinks were organised spotlessly and the garden was incredible! It could not have been more perfect!
Again I wish I could remember her name but the petite blonde lady that dressed our room for the wedding breakfast was possibly one of the kindest people I have ever met. She dressed the room perfectly! And when #shoegate17 happened she rang me to confirm they had found my shoes! The room looked perfect, we had a slightly unusual theme: pineapples, wonder woman tiaras and batman… but she handled it with care and respect. A million thank you’s!
All of the staff at Harts are incredibly professional, calm, courteous but not robots; they made us feel like rock stars – thank you!
And finally, Sally, I am a control freak so I felt pretty confident that I didn’t need a wedding planner. Oh Pip, you naive little bride; enter Sally. I cannot tell you how much Sally focused our attention, embraced our ideas and drove forward our vision. When we mentioned Jelly instead of cake – she found a supplier, when we revealed our table plans – she jumped on board, when I just needed to check in and confirm details – she was already 10 steps ahead of me. I think Sally made our wedding, I genuinely cannot thank her enough. If you have any doubts about getting married at Harts, then don’t, Sally will make your day perfect. She is such a pro- I only plan on getting married once so it was great to have someone that had done this many times before! Thank you Sally!
In conclusion, as a hotel it’s lovely, modern and convenient.
As a wedding venue, it was divine!
Well done Harts, we will see you again soon.
