Macmillan Coffee Morning Raises £352.46

By September 28th, 2018News

Today Hart’s hosted a coffee and cake morning in the Park Bar. The event was held as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Appeal with similar events taking place all across the country.

And in the spirit of charity everyone came together; from colleagues, customers and friends all chipping in to help make today’s event a great success.

By the end of the morning our team had raised a huge £352.46 to go towards the appeal.

A delighted Melissa Willis, Reception Manager who organises this event said: “The total we raised is absolutely brilliant I am over the moon with what we have achieved today.

“We had a great response and people enjoyed what they had and just kept coming back for more!”

A huge thank you goes out as well to all our lovely bakers who entered our ‘Bake Off’ competition. They have all risen to the occasion and we were overwhelmed with 14 delicious entries. The judges Adam Worthington, general manager and Melissa Willis, reception manager had a tough job in tasting them all but the winners were announced as follows;

1st Place Lisa Lodge with a coffee & lime macaroon cake. Lisa won Afternoon Tea for Two at Hart’s Nottingham.

Runner-up John Clarke with a summer gateau with fresh raspberries, lemon curd and mascarpone. John won Afternoon Tea for Two at Hart’s Nottingham.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning is a perfect way to raise money for charity while eating delicious cakes and catching up with friends and colleagues. Special thanks goes to Christine Brooke and the U3A Park Nottingham for joining us as well as Richard from Clarin’s who gave complimentary hand massages throughout the morning.

The money raised will go towards paying for nurses for cancer patients, respite time for families, specialist support groups, or even a microwave to make sure someone with cancer can prepare food easily and quickly.
