With game season upon us and plenty of rich autumnal flavours and cosy evenings eating and drinking ahead, we decided to look at some of the health benefits and the dishes on the menu this Autumn.
Wild game is much leaner and lower in fat, with greater nutritional value, than farmed meat. It’s also much tastier, as the varied natural diet of wild animals means their meat is packed with flavour – so healthy eating need never be boring again.

One of the main benefits of eating game meat is that is it one of the most healthiest meats available, very low in fat and cholesterol, game meat is lean as they are wild and are able to walk and roam freely so do not store so much fat. The fat that is in the meat is Omega 3, making game one of the healthiest sources of good fat.
Our seasonal game comes from local sources, including Pheasant from Hambleton Hall which is also great for our carbon footprint. High animal welfare is our most important consideration when selecting meat to present to your table.
Roast grouse has featured on our menu many times over the years and has received fantastic comments including ‘cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth’. It is a lovely rich and hearty dish that is well-presented.
